If you are in sales, you should always be asking for referrals from clients, vendors and especially from your referral partners. A best practice is to review a person’s LinkedIn Profile and Connections before you meet with them and come to the meeting ready to ask for specific introductions that you’d like from them. The best way to do this is to do an advanced search within their LinkedIn connections.
Here are the steps:
- Go to their profile.
- Click on the number on the right side of their profile header. (ex: “500+ connections”)
- Click the magnifying glass icon, then type a period (“.”) in the search box that appears.
- Click “Advanced Search” on the left side of the Connections section.
- Use the filters on the left side of the Advanced Search screen to find the type of Connections you’d like an introduction to. (Note: The search filters with the Gold LinkedIn Icon next to them are for Premium Account members only.
